This is only the second ever official bottling of Glenfiddich 50-year-old, and it has been created from two casks (a 1955 and a 1957) married for six months before bottling. Just 500 bottles of this extraordinary whisky have been created. They are released on a strict global allocation of 50 bottles per year for the next ten years. Each bottle is decorated with Scottish silver, sealed with a waxed engraved medallion and is housed in a hand-sewn leather box with a leather-bound book and signed certificate.
This Glen Fiddich 50-Year-Old is a Glen Fiddich heirloom and the pinnacle of years of whisky-making, the culmination of the skill and dedication from Malt Master, Brian Kinsman and the crowning glory in the pursuit of excellence that began with founder William Grant back in 1887.
This exquisite whisky has been drawn from two casks, both having spent the last 50 years maturing in the cool darkness of Warehouse 8. Before bottling, Malt Master married them for six months in an American oak barrel to give the wondrous array of flavors and aromas an unrivalled harmony.
Every bottle of this finest Single Malt is uniquely hand-blown and individually numbered in wax before the sixth-generation silversmith, Thomas Fattorini, applies his finishing touches. Presented in a classic, hand-stitched, black leather case with accompanying hand-woven silk lining, one is left in no doubt as to the pedigree of this creation.
GREAT FOR: Those seeking the very best and extremely rare piece of history. Unique and classic, a beautifully harmonious nose compliments cascading flavor’s in this flagship malt.
GLENFIDDICH 50-YEAR-OLD RARE COLLECTION WHISKY TASTING NOTES
The Glen Fiddich 50-Year-Old is a golden amber.
A beautifully harmonious with an uplifting, vibrant and complex aroma. Delicate floral notes (rose petals and violets) are intriguingly intertwined with green tobacco leaf and oak and just a faint hint of smoke.
Initially very sweet with a zesty orange marmalade and vanilla toffee, which then cascades through a wonderful series of layers: aromatic herbs, floral and soft fruits, silky oak tannin and hints of gentle smoke.
Exceptionally long with a touch of dry oak and the merest trace of peat.
